Meet the Founder

Scott Couch is an Alabama businessman, entrepreneur, and mentor with a lifelong passion for hands-on work, leadership, and building opportunities for others.

From an early age, Scott was drawn to technical skills and problem-solving. At just 14 years old, he started a bicycle repair business, discovering firsthand the value of hard work, self-reliance, and learning practical skills. That entrepreneurial mindset continued throughout his career, eventually leading him to build and operate successful companies serving the banking industry.

But beyond business, Scott’s greatest passion has always been mentorship and investing in the next generation. Through Cobalt Learning Center, he hopes to introduce young men to the world of skilled trades while teaching the values that come with them — discipline, accountability, confidence, respect, and work ethic.

Scott believes many young people simply have never been exposed to the opportunities that hands-on trades can provide. His mission is to help fill that gap by creating an environment where students can learn real-world skills, gain direction, and develop into capable young men prepared for both career and life.

For Scott, Cobalt Learning Center is more than a program — it is the realization of a lifelong dream to teach, mentor, and make a lasting impact in his community.

Our Vision

At Cobalt Learning Center, we believe too many young men have never been shown the opportunities that exist through skilled trades and hands-on work. For decades, trade careers have been treated as a “last resort,” when in reality they can provide fulfilling, rewarding, and respected careers.

Our vision is to reconnect the next generation with practical skills, hard work, and strong character. Through hands-on learning like automotive repair, welding, engine rebuilding, tire changing, and problem-solving, students gain real-world experience while building confidence and discipline.

But CLC is about more than learning a trade. We believe mentorship matters. Alongside technical skills, we incorporate life lessons, accountability, respect, communication, and leadership into every class. Sometimes the lesson is how to rebuild an engine. Sometimes it’s how to properly shake another man’s hand.

We want to help develop capable young men who are prepared not only for a career, but for life.

“We acknowledge a tremendous void in early exposure to trades. Currently seeking investors, we believe that CLC has the power to be large-scale and incredibly impactful.”

The Pilot Program

The demand is already there.

Our pilot program was offered to a neighborhood of roughly 500 households and attracted more than 30 young men ages 14 to 20. The response was incredible, with enthusiastic participation and overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and parents.

That's a participation rate of approximately 6% from a single neighborhood pilot. The interest among young men for hands-on learning, mentorship, and skilled trades is real—and we're just getting started.
